Psalms 91: "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the almighty. I will say He is my refuge, my God and in Him will I trust."
Have you ever wondered what's really in the secret place? It's the place all saints long to be. We have promises over our head that indicate that we don't have to worry. We have a connection with God before trials and tribulations arise; therefore, when we need God, we are not just attempting to build a relationship with him. We already have a relationship before tragedy hits. This messages helps saints everywhere take a look at what is really in the secret place and how that place benefits the people of God.
II Timothy 3:1-5; I Corithians 4:15
In this mini sermon, Dr. Vann urgently admonishes the church to get back to the bible. There ought to be constant reminders on the part of church leadership to keep pulling people back to the bible. As people of God we don't want to be foolish or ignorant. After a period of time our aptitude rises. We know that we are living in the last days in which it has been prophesied that perilous or dangerous time would come. Why are they come? Because men shall be lovers of their own selves.
We don't realize the importance of the soul. No matter how long we live here, God is after one thing -- our soul. We've got to pay attention to our souls and the condition of it and what we are doing to it each and every day. God is coming back after our souls -- not our good works, our legacy, how much we accomplish or gain monetarily or materially. None of these things are of interest. The one thing God is after is our soul and that is what He comes back to pick up. The body is left here. Your soul is what He comes to get. The condition the soul is in will determine which way you are going. The enemy will always try to make everything seem more important than your soul. When you start thinking about your soul, you become a person of wisdom.
On March 25, 1973, Dr. Jeannette C. Holmes-Vann repented and accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, and subsequently received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. It was evident that the call of God was upon her life as she shared the love of Christ and her anointed testimony. As she continued to share fervently this Good news of the Gospel, many like her were won over to the same faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thus, Hope Chapel Ministries was born.
The ministry, which was initially referred to as Unity, Prayer, Bible, and Mission Outreach, started in the basement of her home and continued there for approximately 5 years before moving into the garage. As the ministry continued to show tremendous growth, it was necessary to use various community centers for specific events. Our first building was erected in 1981. It is now referred to as our Fellowship Hall. Today the ministry has expanded to multi-million dollar facilities that include a Children's Church, Sanctuary, renovated Fellowship Hall, a private non-chartered Christian School, and a full-service Sports multi-plex facility.
